What Is a Cookie and For What Purposes Is It Used?

A persistent cookie, which is not deleted when the internet browser is closed, is automatically deleted on a specific date or after a certain period of time. Through this cookie, each time the user visits a website, the user's processed data is transmitted to the server. For this reason, persistent cookies are sometimes also referred to as tracking cookies. For example, advertisers may record and use information about a user's web browsing habits over a long period of time. They may also be used to ensure that users do not have to re-enter their login information each time they log in to their accounts on websites.

Advertising/Marketing Cookies:
Advertising and marketing cookies aim to track users' online activities on the internet in order to determine their personal interests and to display advertisements to users on the internet tailored to those interests. Although many types of advertising exist on the internet, the main reason online behavioral advertising is the most preferred type is that it allows advertisements to be tailored to individuals' tendencies and preferences, enabling advertisers to use time and financial resources more efficiently. Online behavioral advertising practices consist of the following stages: monitoring individuals' activities on the internet, analyzing these activities to create profiles, matching the profiled individual with suitable advertisements, and displaying those advertisements to the relevant data subject.
Cookies by Party
Whether a cookie is a first-party or third-party cookie varies depending on which webpage or domain places it. First-party cookies are placed directly by the webpage the user visits, i.e., by the URL shown in the browser's address bar (e.g., ornek.com.tr). Third-party cookies, on the other hand, are placed by a third party different from the website (or domain) the user visits.

Rights of the Data Subject
Pursuant to Article 11 of the KVKK, provided that you prove your identity, you may apply to us in person regarding your personal data to:
- Learn whether we process personal data about you, and if we do or have done so, request information regarding this.
- Learn the purpose of processing your personal data and whether it is used in accordance with that purpose.
- Learn whether your personal data has been transferred domestically or abroad and to whom it has been transferred.
- Request the correction of your incomplete or inaccurate personal data and request that recipients to whom this data has been or may have been transferred be informed of this.
- Request the destruction (erasure, disposal, or anonymization) of your personal data under the conditions set out in Article 7 of the KVKK. However, whether your destruction request will be carried out, and if so, which method is appropriate, will be assessed by us according to the circumstances of the specific case, within the scope of our obligations arising from the applicable legislation. In this context, you may always request information from us as to why we chose the destruction method we selected.
- Request that third parties to whom your personal data has been or may be transferred be informed of your destruction request.
- Object to the results of an analysis of your personal data carried out exclusively through automated systems, if such results are to your detriment.
- Request compensation for damages in the event that you suffer harm due to the unlawful processing of your personal data.
Your requests contained in your application will be concluded free of charge within thirty days at the latest, depending on the nature of the request. However, if the transaction requires an additional cost for the Data Controller, a fee may be charged in accordance with the tariff set by the Personal Data Protection Board in the Communiqué on the Procedures and Principles of Application to the Data Controller. You may submit your application regarding matters related to the processing of your personal data by filling out the application form found on the Data Controller's website, or, provided that you comply with the conditions set out in Article 5 of the Communiqué on the Procedures and Principles of Application to the Data Controller, in the following ways:
- In writing and signed
- By e-mail sent from your registered electronic mail (KEP) address
- By secure electronic signature or mobile signature
- Via the data subject application link found on our website
In order to facilitate your application, you may submit your request to us by filling out the application form you request, using any of the options mentioned above.
Depending on the nature of your request and your method of application, the Data Controller may request additional verification (such as sending a message to your registered phone number or calling you) in order to determine whether the application belongs to you and thereby protect your rights. For example, if you apply through the e-mail address registered with the Data Controller, we, as the Data Controller, may contact you using another registered means of communication and request confirmation that the application belongs to you.
How Can You Prevent the Use of Cookies?
Although the use of cookies allows the Website to provide better service, you may, if you wish, prevent the use of cookies. However, please note that in this case the site may not fully perform its function and you may not be able to benefit from all its features. In the new window that appears, select Choose What to Clear, then select the items you want to clear from the window that appears. 3. There are many items here. You can select the ones you want and begin the clearing process.
- Google Chrome 1. Open Chrome on your computer. 2. In the top right, click More Settings. 3. At the bottom, click Advanced. 4. Under "Privacy and security", click Content settings. 5. Click Cookies. 6. Under "All cookies and site data", search for the name of the Website. 7. Click the Remove icon to the right of the site.
- Mozilla Firefox 1. Click the Firefox Menu button and select Options. 2. Select the Privacy & Security panel and go to the History section. 3. Change the Firefox setting to use custom settings for history. 4. Click the Show Cookies… button. The Cookies window will appear. 5. In the Search field, type the name of the site whose cookies you want to delete. Cookies matching your search will be displayed. 6. Select the cookie(s) you want to delete and click Remove Selected. 7. Click the Close button to close the Cookies window. Then close the about:preferences page.
